The Woollybear Festival is the largest one-day festival in Ohio, held annually in downtown Vermilion, Ohio. Founded in 1973 by the late Fox 8 meteorologist Dick Goddard, the festival celebrates the fuzzy woolly bear caterpillar and the folklore that its black and orange stripes can predict winter weather.
